Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic System Design & Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies for major IT developments, incorporating cost benefit analysis and long term ROI projections.

     
  • Develop and maintain the Enterprise Architecture Roadmap to ensure technology stacks align with 3-5 year business growth objectives.

  • Evaluate and communicate the impact of emerging technologies (such as Generative AI and Edge Computing) to senior stakeholders and advise on adoption risks.

     

2. Technical Specification & Standards

  • Examine existing business models and data flows to design detailed functional specifications and technical blueprints for new systems.

     
  • Define and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and “best practices” across cloud (AWS/Azure) and on-premise environments.

  • Design robust test plans and disaster recovery protocols for complex system integrations to ensure 99.9% uptime.

3. Infrastructure & Network Oversight

  • Research, evaluate, and monitor network infrastructure performance to identify bottlenecks before they impact business operations.

     
  • Provide expert advice on the procurement, installation, and maintenance of high value hardware and software assets.

     
  • Lead “Design Authority” sessions to approve or reject technical changes that impact the integrity of the core system architecture.

     

4. Implementation & Integration Leadership

  • Work closely with DevOps and Engineering teams to translate high level designs into low level implementation tasks.

  • Supervise the end to end integration of third party APIs and legacy systems, ensuring data consistency and security.

  • Act as the technical bridge between clients and developers to clarify requirements and define the scope of software and hardware provisions.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (RQF Level 6) in Computer Science or a related STEM field.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in systems design or senior architecture roles.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architecture, and Microservices.
